Chronicle of a deaf audiologist

LACE AI Pro coaching notes #4

In Rapid Speech and Speech in Noise training, you are asked to repeat what you heard aloud or silently to confirm your understanding. Then, you tap Confirm. The next screen displays the sentence that was just presented to you. You are then asked, ‘Is this what you heard?’

If you did not hear the sentence, you have the option to Replay, now that you know the answer. I highly recommend doing that.

When I am tired or have missed most of the sentence, sometimes I can’t remember the whole answer when I tap Replay.

My strategy is to say the answer out loud when it appears. That has turned out to be quite effective in helping me to remember.

A similar strategy can be used for the Working Memory training. You are given a scenario (e.g., ‘Holiday Shopping’) and 4-5 details. Repeat each detail out loud. You’ll get a sense of what’s important information after a few trials. Because it’s fast, you’ll have to be fast too.

Hope that helps! It sure helps me.
